National Communication Academy (NCA) has been set up by merging 3 existing training institutes of DoT viz. NTIPRIT, NICF, and WMTDC. The merger of existing institutions aims to create a unified, more effective training entity focused on developing competencies relevant to the telecommunications domains. NCA has 3 campuses, 1 at Ghaziabad (erstwhile NTIPRIT) to cater the Technology needs whereas 2 campuses at Ghitorni (erstwhile NICF and WMTDC) will serve as the center for imparting finance and spectrum related trainings. Governing Council of NCA headed by Secretary (T) comprises of senior officers of DoT, as well as representatives from industry and academia, ensuring a well-rounded approach to governance and strategic direction. NCA has following 3 campuses:

  1. NCA(T) Ghaziabad - (erstwhile National Telecommunications Institute for Policy Research, Innovation & Training (NTIPRIT)): NTIPRIT was established in the year 2010 as National Telecom Academy, the telecom training institute of DoT. Subsequently, in year 2011, the mandate of institute was expanded by bringing into the activities related to policy research and innovations under its ambit and the Institute was rechristened as National Telecommunications Institute for Policy Research, Innovation & Training. The institute is now a Central Training Institute (CTI) enlisted with Department of Personnel & Training (DOPT). NTIPRIT is renamed as NCA -T, Ghaziabad. NCA-T is responsible for imparting training to officers of ITS Gr. ‘A’ , TES Gr. ‘B’, P&T BWS (Civil/Electrical/Arch.) officers.
  2. NCA(F), Ghitorni - (erstwhile National Institute of Communication Finance (NICF)): The NICF, established in 2000, is a DoPT recognized CTI under the DoT. The NICF has been entrusted with the responsibility of imparting training to Indian Posts & Telecommunications Accounts and Finance Service (IP&TAFS) Group ‘A’, ‘B’ & ‘C’ cadres, which includes Probationary Training of IP&TAFS Group ‘A’ officers recruited by the UPSC through Civil Services Examination as well as induction Training of Group ‘B’ & ‘C’ cadres apart from organizing and conducting regular national and international seminars and workshops.
  3. NCA(W), Ghitorni - (erstwhile Wireless Monitoring Training & Development Centre (WMTDC)) - is a nodal agency for conducting training courses for officials and staff of Indian Radio Regulatory Service.
