DoT undertakes comprehensive capacity-building activities through a combination of in-house training programs and collaborations with external institutes and Ministries/ Departments/Organizations. In-house training programs are designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of DoT personnel across various levels, covering technical, financial, managerial, and policy-oriented subjects. These programs are tailored to meet the specific needs of the department and are conducted regularly to ensure ongoing professional development.
Additionally, the DoT collaborates with national and international training institutions to offer specialized courses and workshops that provide broader perspectives and advanced expertise. This partnership enriches the learning experiences of DoT staff, helping them stay current with global best practices and emerging trends in telecommunications. To foster a culture of continuous learning, DoT has implemented several capacity-building initiatives, including the Competency Upskilling Scheme and the incentivization of iGOT courses through APAR grading. These efforts are designed to ensure that staff continually enhance their skills and knowledge, contributing to their professional growth and the department's overall effectiveness.
Capacity Building & Training (CB&T) Division The DDG (CB&T) serves as the Training Manager for the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), overseeing the coordination with the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and other departments and ministries regarding long-term training programs for all DoT cadres. CB&T Division is responsible for developing and coordinating in-service courses for DoT officers, preparing and implementing the Annual Training Plan, and liaising with national and international training centers and institutes. Additionally, the division handles various aspects of iGOT and the “Mission Karmyogi” initiative from the DoPT. While the CB&T Division manages training and technical matters related to the National Communication Academy (NCA), the other matters of NCA are being dealt by JS (T) Division of DoT.

This is to inform that the acceptance of new applications under Indian Telegraph Act 1885 has been stopped for all kind of Unified Licenses, Unified Licenses (VNO), Standalone Licenses, Registrations, Permissions. Accordingly, the Saral Sanchar Portal and National Single Window System (NSWS) will not accept any new applications for the same.
All applicants who wish to i) obtain any of the above authorisations/ registrations under The Telecommunication Act, 2023, or; ii) migrate the existing licenses/ authorisation granted under Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 to the corresponding authorisations under The Telecommunication Act, 2023 may login to https://eservices.dot.gov.in/authorisation-portal from 25.06.2026 onwards.
This is to inform that the acceptance of all applications including renewals under Indian Telegraph Act 1885 has been stopped for Dealer Possession License (DPL)/ Non-Dealer Possession License (NDPL) and Manufacturing Licence & Testing License. Accordingly, the Saral Sanchar Portal and National Single Window System (NSWS) will not accept any new applications for the same from 03.07.2026 onwards
